Small Groups

Small groups are vital to who we are becoming and where we are going as a church.  They are our primary venue for making friends, inviting God's transformation through Scripture and prayer, and living on mission together to make a difference in the world.
Our adult small groups are semester based, and meet regularly.  Three times a year we share a small group menu with all the options for the coming semester.  We will help you find a group that is the best match for where you are on your spiritual journey, as well as for your schedule.  Some of our groups also have a childcare available.

Grp #1 Co-ed Group Led by Dana and Eric Zetterberg, Sunday Evenings, 6:30-8 pm, at the home of the Boss family in Brookeville/ Olney
  • Good to Great in God’s Eyes, Chip Ingrim
  • In Mark 10:43, Jesus says, whoever wants to become great must...Must what? You'll explore the idea that there are certain practices available to every believer at every maturity level to move us from good to God's Eyes.
Grp #2 Co-ed Group led by Jen Ashby, Tuesday Evenings, 7-8:30 pm, at the home of the Schwarz family in Derwood
  • The Power of a Whisper:Hearing God, having the guts to respond, Bill Hybels
  • In this powerful and practical small group Bible study, you’ll learn how to discern the ‘voice’ of God from the other voices that vie for your attention, how to invite His input into your daily routine, how to ‘practice’ His presence and how to allow heaven-sent input to direct your life toward making a kingdom-oriented difference in this world.
Grp #3 Co-Ed Group Led by Holly and Jim Mullen, Wednesday Evenings, 7-8:30 pm, at the DAC Villa next door to the church building
  • Grace Through the Eyes of Jesus, Paul Miller
  • Our world is full of talk about grace, but grace is easily misunderstood. This group will explore grace through the lens of Jesus’s interactions and teaching in the gospel of Luke. In these stories, you will discover a richly textured world filled with the beauty of God’s character, and the truth about grace.
Grp #4 Co-Ed Group Led by Andrew and Miriam Black, Thursday Evenings, 7-8:30 pm, at the home of the Neely family in Derwood
  • Work as Worship, J.D. Greear
  • Scripture makes no division between the sacred and secular parts of our lives. God gives us our work, talent and skills so that through them we might worship Him. This group will challenge all of us to consider the reason God calls us to work both outside the home and within the home. It will cause you to consider why He may have you in your current position and encourage you to look beyond how your job makes you feel and see purpose and significance in your work.
